Si Jun Zi Tang from Empirical Health is a classical Chinese herbal formula powder, based on the traditional Si Jun Zi Tang (Four Gentlemen Decoction), originating from the Song Dynasty text Tai Ping Hui Min He Ji Ju Fang (~1078–1085 AD).

This foundational formula tonifies Spleen Qi, strengthens the middle jiao, and supports healthy transformation and transportation of food and fluids. In modern Western terms, it promotes normal digestive function and nutrient absorption, helps maintain steady energy levels, supports gut motility and microbiome balance, and assists with resilience against fatigue from depletion—making it particularly useful for patterns of pure Spleen Qi deficiency, such as poor appetite, loose or unformed stools, fatigue (especially after eating), bloating or abdominal distension after meals, pale complexion, weak limbs, shortness of breath on exertion, reduced stamina, or slow recovery from illness/stress, commonly seen in chronic digestive weakness, post-viral fatigue, mild malabsorption, or general low vitality without heat or damp signs in TCM terms.

Key Ingredients (classical composition):

  • Ren Shen (Ginseng Root) – strongly tonifies Qi and supports vitality.
  • Bai Zhu (Atractylodes macrocephala) – strengthens the Spleen and dries dampness.
  • Fu Ling (Poria) – drains dampness and harmonizes the middle jiao.
  • Zhi Gan Cao (Honey-fried Licorice) – harmonizes and mildly tonifies.

Preparation suggestion: Place 1 tsp (~5 g) of powder into 100 ml of boiling water, let cool, strain and drink warm. Drink twice daily, or as otherwise directed by your healthcare professional.

Storage: Keep in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Seal tightly after opening.

This product contains no preservatives or artificial additives. Empirical Health emphasizes quality sourcing and testing for reliable support. Use under the guidance of your practitioner—this provides classical, effective support for Spleen Qi deficiency patterns with poor appetite, loose stools, fatigue, bloating, and low energy in a professional setting.
