Shen Ling Bai Zhu San from Empirical Health is a classical Chinese herbal formula powder, based on the traditional Shen Ling Bai Zhu San (Ginseng, Poria, and Atractylodes Powder), originating from the Song Dynasty text Tai Ping Hui Min He Ji Ju Fang.

This foundational formula tonifies Spleen Qi, strengthens the Spleen and Stomach, drains dampness, transforms phlegm-fluid retention, consolidates the intestines, stops diarrhea, and supports better nutrient assimilation and sustained energy. It is indicated for patterns of Spleen Qi deficiency with damp accumulation, where weakened transformation and transportation functions result in loose or watery stools, chronic diarrhea, poor appetite, fatigue, abdominal bloating or distension, heaviness in the limbs, pale complexion, or a greasy tongue coating—commonly seen in chronic digestive weakness or malabsorption.

Empirical Health specializes in high-quality Chinese herbs and classical formulas, using whole herbs crafted into fine powders that preserve the full spectrum of active compounds and energetic properties through time-honored methods. Their products are vegan-friendly, suitable for vegetarians, paleo-friendly, and emphasize purity with no artificial additives.

Key Ingredients (classical composition):

•  Ren Shen (Ginseng) – tonifies Qi and supports Spleen/Lung function.

•  Bai Zhu (Atractylodes macrocephala) – strengthens the Spleen and dries dampness.

•  Fu Ling (Poria) – drains dampness and harmonizes the middle jiao.

•  Gan Cao (Licorice) – harmonizes and mildly tonifies.

•  Shan Yao (Dioscorea / Chinese yam) – nourishes Spleen and Stomach.

•  Lian Zi (Lotus seed) – tonifies Spleen and stops diarrhea.

•  Yi Yi Ren (Coix seed) – drains dampness and strengthens Spleen.

•  Bai Bian Dou (Dolichos / hyacinth bean) – clears dampness and stops diarrhea.

•  Sha Ren (Amomum) – transforms damp-turbidity and regulates Qi.

•  Jie Geng (Platycodon) – vents and directs herbs upward.
