Ao Yi Patches (pronounced “Owie”) from Botanical Biohacking are acupoint-sized herbal patches (8cm x 8cm each) inspired by Gui Zhou Miao Minority medicine traditions, combined with principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Each bag contains 10 patches.

These patches function as a form of external herbal application, delivering potent botanicals transdermally to support pain relief, channel activation, and collateral opening. They are designed for precise placement on acupuncture points (local or distal) or affected areas, providing effects similar to strong acupuncture stimulation without needles—making them suitable for in-clinic use, patient home maintenance, or telemedicine guidance (e.g., shipping to patients with instructions for acupoint application).

The formula works in three progressive stages of absorption:

1.  Pain Relief & Channel Opening (fast-acting, within minutes to 1 hour): Volatile oils and terpenes provide immediate cooling, warming, numbing, and penetration enhancement to unblock stagnation and improve circulation.

2.  Warming & Collateral Expansion (moderate, 1–3 hours): Moderately polar compounds move blood, clear inflammation, and spread warmth along meridians and collaterals for sustained comfort and mobility.

3.  Tonifying & Dampness Removal (slow, 3+ hours and longer-lasting): Larger hydrophilic molecules nourish Yang, drain dampness, promote tissue repair, and address deep-seated stagnation for ongoing support.

Key botanicals include:

•  Opening Exterior & Penetration Enhancers: Menthol (Bo He Nao), Camphor (Zhang Nao), Borneolum Syntheticum (Bing Pian), Zingiberis Rhizoma (Gan Jiang).

•  Blood Regulation & Anti-Inflammatory: Carthami Flos (Hong Hua), Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix (Niu Xi), Spatholobi Caulis (Ji Xue Teng), Draconis Sanguis (Xue Jie), Lycopodii Herba (Lu Lu Tong), Cynanchi Paniculati Radix et Rhizoma (Bai Wei), Sargentodoxa Cuneata (Hong Teng), Phryma Leptostachya (Xia Ku Cao), Tinospora Sinensis (Jin Guo Lan).

•  Tonifying & Damp-Draining: Notoginseng (San Qi), Dipsaci Radix (Xu Duan), Eucommiae Cortex (Du Zhong), Cibotii Rhizoma (Gou Ji), Poria (Fu Ling), Angelicae Pubescentis Radix (Du Huo), Acanthopanacis Cortex (Wu Jia Pi), Bauhinia Championii (Long Xu Teng).

In TCM terms, Ao Yi Patches target patterns of blood stasis, qi stagnation, wind-damp obstruction, and cold accumulation, particularly where these contribute to acute or chronic discomfort (e.g., shoulder pain, lower back issues, post-surgical tension, or systemic patterns via distal points like Kidney 1). Their ability to penetrate deeply and warm the Yin meridians helps disperse lingering cold and stagnation, restoring smoother flow.

Application: Clean and dry the skin (optionally prep with an alcohol-based topical like Evil Bone Water for better absorption). Peel off the backing, remove the inner herb-covering sticker (essential for efficacy), apply to the chosen point/area, and leave on for up to 4 hours (check skin periodically). Patches can remain effective for up to 2 days; reapply the same patch as needed (use medical tape if adhesion fades), but monitor for skin tolerance.

For External Use Only. Avoid eyes, mucous membranes, tight bandaging, or concurrent use with other topical analgesics. Do a patch test if skin is sensitive; discontinue if irritation occurs. Not for those with known reactions to ingredients.

Storage: Keep in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Seal after opening.
